knit scarf still rolls up after blocking?
i just completed my first scarf in entirely stockinette stitch and it is rolling up like crazy. so i wet-blocked it because i heard blocking would pretty much even out the rolling, but then after leaving it overnight it was still rolling up!!! why? is it because i did not use enough water (i just kinda ran it under the sink) or took it out too soon? (its still a little damp) i used a 100% polyester yarn , if it helps. and what can i do? thank you !!
you took it out too soon, you are suppose to leave it there until the scarf is bone dry. another thing that you can do is have an iron on low and iron the piece out on both sides.
another thing that you can do is pick up stitches evenly around the scarf and work about 2 inches worth of garter stitch, knit one purl one rib, seed stitch, moss stitch or any other stitch that combines the knit and purl stitch.
Seed Stitch (multiple of 2 sts)
Row 1 (RS): *K 1, p 1; rep from *.
Row 2: Purl the knit sts and knit the purl sts.
Rep Row 2 for Seed Stitch
moss stitch (worked on an odd number of sts)
Rows 1, 3, 4 and 6 *P 1, k 1; repeat from * to last st, p 1.
Rows 2 and 5 *K 1, p 1; repeat from * to last st, k 1.
Repeat Rows 1-6 for pattern.
Rib Stitch Pattern
Rows 1 - 4 *K 1, P 1; rep from *.
Rows 5 - 8 *P 1, k 1; rep from *.
Repeat Rows 1 - 8 for pattern.
