Has anybody tried Iams Skin & Coat Response FP/Canine Dry dog food for itching and scratching?
Has it worked?? My dog scratches his ears and I've tried a lot of different foods to no avail. Iams claims it will reduce the symptoms in 3 weeks.

Food allergies are a reaction to specific proteins in food. Depending on what allergies you dog has, switching to a diet that contains unique proteins can sometimes help.
Iams Veterinary Formula Response FP is only available from veterinarians and has been used effectively in the nutritional management of allergy symptoms. The protein sources are herring meal and catfish. The carbohydrate source is potato. No other carbohydrates (like corn or barley). No other meats (like chicken or beef). Three weeks might not be enough time to see results--this food works from the inside out. I would allow 8 weeks. Also, if your dog really does have a food allergy, you will need to eliminate EVERYTHING else from his diet--no biscuits, no treats. You've got to eliminate anything that might contain the protein source that your dog is having the reaction to.
