How to make edges of cut aluminum flashing less sharp?
Hi, we are trying to do a special project using a sheet of cut aluminum flashing attached to the bottom of our gate so the dog can't see out as easily. We made the cuts and are about to spray paint but have found the edges (especially the cut ones) to be very sharp and have both gotten bad paper-like cuts. Any ideas how to protect the exposed edge so no one gets hurt?
My first thought was a report sleave - like the ones i used to put my book reports in.
You need to dull the sharp edges. Try dragging the edge of some leftover flashing down the length of your installation. If that doesn't work try 000 steel wool or doubled up sandpaper (fine) along the sharp edge.
